OUR SIMPLE PROCESS

Under the Environment Act 2021, most developments in England must now deliver a minimum 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) to secure planning approval. New legislation can feel complex and time-consuming but it doesn’t have to be. We provide a clear, compliant, and straightforward solution, helping developers meet BNG requirements efficiently while keeping projects moving.

HOW WE WORK

SIMPLIFYING BIODIVERSITY & NUTRIENT COMPLIANCE

We take a practical, collaborative approach to nature recovery combining ecological expertise, responsible land stewardship, and long-term environmental management to deliver measurable outcomes for both biodiversity and sustainable development. From initial consultation through to delivery, monitoring, and compliance, we provide clear, efficient solutions that support lasting environmental impact while helping projects move forward with confidence.

STEP - 4
— Final Approval, Allocation & Certificate

Once planning permission is granted and final payment is received, we allocate the required Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units or Nutrient Neutrality credits to your development on the statutory register and issue your BNG or Nutrient Neutrality Certificate.

Deep Roots assumes full responsibility for the 5,30-year or 90-year delivery, monitoring, and ongoing compliance, giving you long-term certainty and removing future risk from your project.

STEP - 3
— Reserve Your Units

Secure your Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units or Nutrient Neutrality credits by paying a deposit.

You’ll receive:

  • A formal BNG or Nutrient Neutrality Purchase Agreement

  • A copy of the 5 year or 30-year Habitat Management & Monitoring Plan (HMMP)

  • A letter of support for submission with your planning application

From February 2024, planning applications must include evidence of secured BNG offset in line with the Environment Act.

STEP - 2
—Review and Agreement

We’ll issue a clear proposal setting out pricing, timelines, and our recommended approach. Once you’re happy, simply confirm your instruction and we’ll move forward.

STEP - 1
— Submit Your Request

Complete our short form to share your project details and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) or Nutrient Neutrality requirements. We’ll review your ecology report and, where helpful, arrange a call to fully understand your scheme and confirm the best route forward.
