ABOUT US
LAND, LIVELIHOOD, AND THE LIVING WORLD.
A regenerative business answering the two great challenges of our age climate breakdown and biodiversity loss.
Deep Roots is a regenerative business working at the intersection of land, livelihood and the living world and we believe the two great challenges of our age, climate breakdown and biodiversity loss, can only be answered by changing the way we live with nature.
WHO WE ARE
We are farmers, ecologists, growers and storytellers. Across the southwests landscape, we are restoring habitats, rewilding ground that has been worked too hard for too long, raising food in the old, careful ways, and opening our gates to the people and partners who want to be part of that work. Whether through woodland regeneration, regenerative grazing or woodland enhancement everything here is shaped by one conviction: that healthy land and healthy people belong to the same picture.
PURPOSE
To restore the land, reconnect people, and rebuild the relationship between the two.
We work to put nature back where it belongs in the soil, in our food, in our communities, and in the centre of how we make decisions. That is our mission and our measure.
VISION
A future in which the British countryside is alive again wilder, wetter, more wooded, more biodiverse — and in which the people who live in it, work it and visit it feel a deep and personal stake in its recovery. We don't believe that future arrives by accident. As stewards, we see our role as proving what's possible at the scale of a single landscape, then sharing what we learn so others can do the same.
OUR VALUES
THREE WORDS SIT BEHIND EVERY PROJECT, PARTNERSHIP AND DECISION WE MAKE.
Regeneration
Bringing soils, hedgerows, rivers and woodlands back to life. Not preservation in aspic, but active recovery building ecosystems that store carbon, hold water, host wildlife, and feed us well.
Restoration
Returning land and buildings to good use. Some of that is ecological; some is architectural; some is cultural. All of it is about honouring what was here and making it fit for what comes next.
Reconnection
The closer people are to nature, the more fiercely they will protect it. We open the estate to schools, volunteers, businesses and neighbours because the work of conservation is, in the end, the work of belonging.
